Species Description and Notes

Notes: Brown to blackish masses, sometimes with whitish spots; cave specimens may be light brown. Surface convoluted and shiny; oscules large and deep (sometimes not present). Consistency very tough and rubbery, owing to a strong and thick cartilaginous cortex. It does not have spicules. The name C. reniformis Nardo, 1847 is from The Mediterranean and thus the Caribbean material possibly needs a new name.
